DAF Trucks has had a solid year. In the last quarter of 2024, the market share increased to 15.8% (2023: 15.6%). The first series of electric trucks were also delivered to customers and DAF – celebrating 75 years of truck production – presented innovations for the New Generation DAF models. DAF is therefore ready to further expand its success in 2025.
At the IAA Transportation show in Hannover last fall, DAF unveiled numerous enhancements to its multi-award-winning XD, XF, XG and XG⁺ trucks. The modified PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 powertrains, combined with aerodynamic improvements, increase the fuel efficiency of the vehicles by a further 3 percent, setting a new industry standard. PACCAR Connect, a new, comprehensive online fleet management platform for monitoring fleet performance 24/7, was also introduced.
Energy transition
The first zero-emission DAF XD and XF Electric trucks were delivered. These trucks can drive up to 500 kilometers on a full battery. PACCAR Power Solutions was founded to support transporters in their energy transition. The department offers DAF customers an extensive program of tailor-made products and services, including PACCAR Chargers and even complete energy storage systems.
Solid market share
DAF achieved a solid market share of 14.4 percent in Europe in the heavy-duty truck segment, which amounted to 316,000 vehicles in 2024. In the United Kingdom (27.1%) and the Netherlands (28.9%), DAF remained the undisputed market leader. In addition, in Germany and France, the two largest truck markets in Europe, DAF was the largest import brand for heavy-duty tractors. In the medium-duty truck segment (50,900 units in 2024), DAF had a market share of 9.5 percent, with the market leader in both the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
Awards
In 2024, DAF received several prestigious awards. The DAF XF won the Fehrenkötter field test for its unrivalled low operating costs. The versatile DAF XD and LF distribution vehicles were crowned ‘Best Rigid Trucks’ in the UK. The DAF XD also took the title of ‘Irish Fleet Truck of the Year 2025’ in the tractor segment, while the DAF XB was named ‘TOP Light Truck’ by Transport a Logistika magazine in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Furthermore, DAF was named ‘Fleet Manufacturer of the Year’ in the UK and received the prestigious ‘Factory of the Future’ award for its ‘innovative, efficient and high-quality’ cab and axle factory in Westerlo, Belgium.
Sales outside Europe
DAF Brazil produced a record 10,700 trucks in 2024 and achieved a record market share of 9.9% in the heavy-duty truck segment. DAF sold more than 4,800 trucks outside the European Union and Brazil, with sales doubling in Jordan and the UAE. DAF delivered a record number of trucks in Turkey and achieved significant market share growth in New Zealand.
DAF Components
DAF Components has sold more than 3,000 PACCAR engines worldwide to leading manufacturers of coaches, buses and special vehicles. The new PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 engines for coaches and buses set a new standard in both fuel efficiency and – thanks to the high torque at low revs – passenger comfort.
Excellent service
PACCAR Parts opened a new, state-of-the-art parts distribution center in Massbach, Germany. PACCAR Parts also celebrated the 30th anniversary of the TRP parts program. This includes more than 87,000 parts for all makes of trucks, buses and trailers, and is supported by DAF's worldwide dealer network. In addition, more than 1,300 transporters now benefit from the European PACCAR Parts Fleet Services program, which offers fixed parts prices and single invoicing throughout Europe.
In 2024, DAF Trucks concluded the 275,000th DAF MultiSupport Repair and Maintenance contract; a milestone. DAF's global dealer network opened 31 new locations in Europe, South America, Africa and Oceania. The global network now has around 1,150 locations.
DAF in 2025
“In Europe, between 270,000 and 300,000 trucks in the 16+ tonne segment are expected to be registered in 2025,” said Harald Seidel, DAF Trucks President. “We are well positioned to build on our success with our industry-leading trucks, great service and our excellent electric trucks, for which production increases are planned.”
